I’ve loved baking since I can remember. Of course, my first experiences were pouring the chocolate chips into the cookie dough (while sneaking some chocolate into my mouth) and licking the beaters while mom did all the hard work. I just liked to reap the delicious benefits of helping her.
As the years past, I began to do more and more baking, branching out into things I’d never made. Cookies, brownies, baklava, cheesecake… it was amazing to me how such simple ingredients could turn into things that were so delicious! Eventually, coworkers and friends were asking me to make them specific goodies or try specific recipes that they wanted to taste but didn’t want to make themselves.
It was exciting! Not only was I being driven by my own passion for food and baking, but now other people’s tastes were helping to expand my own!
And so it started. Angie sister and I had often talked of doing a cooking blog, but hadn’t really got around to it. Finally we decided that if we were ever going to do something, now was the time!
And thus, Sugar Beats was born. Two sisters joined in their love of food and the power that it has to bring people, strangers and friends alike, together.
Here is where I’ll be posting my recipes, my trials and errors along the way. I will admit… I’m more prone to make sweet recipes, as I’m more comfortable with and understand the ingredients better. Savory recipes I’m still never new at, and I’m learning everyday that there’s something new I’ve never tried. I’m also learning that things I ‘hated’, were really just things that I’ve never had cooked in a way that I liked. Mushrooms and asparagus, once vile enemies, are now occasionally visitors to my dinner plate.
Please feel free to post comments, critiques, suggestions, or your own alterations to recipes!
Welcome, and enjoy!!
